Happiness used to Equal Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

I realized yesterday that life can be exemplified by Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Or, to be more specific, the way life has spiraled out-of-bounds can be exemplified by Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Let me explain.

I was in a  candy store yesterday when I came across the display of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. When I was a kid, there was one variety. One choice. You either wanted peanut butter or you didn’t. Easy.

Yesterday there were NINE different types of peanut butter cups to choose from. All made by Reese’s. I interpret this fact to  mean that life has gotten NINE times more complicated. Then it needs to be. Now you need to decide what size you want, dark or milk, crunchy or smooth, traditional  cups or a bar. Why? Why I ask? Why do I need to make more decisions? Why complicate it? Is one better than another? Aren’t they all just peanut butter cups?

And this is what life has become. Many, many choices where there used to be just one. Does it make life better? In my world, no. I much prefer shopping where there are fewer choices. Takes less time. Gives me more time to pursue happiness. And eat more peanut butter cups.

What do you think?

be happy……..Evelyn

PS – Th great new-to-me candy store is in Basking Ridge NJ – called Sweets. Their motto is “All candy, all the time”. Gotta love it! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sweet/122358457779119

There was research done about happiness and numbers of choices. It was discovered that even with more choices, no matter what you chose, you just weren’t as ‘satisfied’ or convinced you chose right.

With less choices, people were much happier with their final choice.

You are right. I want only two choices regarding Reese’s peanut Butter Cups. Eat, or don’t eat.
